홍괴불나무 Lonicera maximowiczii, 열매

 

인동과 인동속의 관목으로 잎겨드랑이에서 한 쌍의 자주색 꽃을 피운다. 2개의 꽃에서 자란 열매가 거의 합쳐져 난상 구형의 장과로 붉게 익는다. 중국 이름은 '자주색 꽃을 피우는 인동'이라는 뜻의 紫花忍冬'(자화인동).

 

전국 높은 산지의 능선 및 정상부에서 자란다. 러시아 시베리아 동부, 중국 북동부, 일본 홋카이도 등에 분포한다.

● 홍괴불나무 Lonicera maximowiczii | Reddish honeysuckle  ↘  목련강 국화아강 산토끼꽃목 인동과 인동속 관목 

줄기는 속이 흰색으로 꽉 차며, 높이 2~3m 정도이다. 잎은 마주나며, 길이 4~10cm의 난상 타원형 또는 난형이다. 잎끝은 길게 뾰족하고, 밑은 쐐기형, 원형, 심장 모양 비슷하다. 잎 표면은 털이 산생하며, 뒷면은 연한 녹색이며 흰 털이 밀생한다.

꽃은 양성화로 5~7월에 햇가지의 잎겨드랑이에 2개씩 달리며, 진한 붉은색이다. 꽃싸개잎은 선형이며, 꽃받침통부의 길이보다 훨씬 작다. 꽃부리는 입술 모양, 아랫입술은 갈라지지 않는다. 열매는 장과이며 난상 구형으로 2개가 거의 합쳐지고 7~8월에 붉게 익는다.  <국립생물자원관 한반도의생물다양성>

 

 

 

 

○ 국내에서 홍괴불나무 정명은 L. maximowiczii 또는 L. sachalinensis로 혼용되어 왔는데 L. sachalinensis는 L. maximowiczii의 이명으로 처리되었다. 잎 이면 털의 유무, 잎의 크기, 선모의 유무 등은 종의 형태적 변이를 세분화한 것으로 보며 포의 길이와 형태 등 변이 폭이 큰 것으로 확인되었다. 변종인 흰등괴불나무(var. latifolia)도 WFO에서는 홍괴불나무의 이명으로 기록하고 있다.
