흰꽃여뀌 Persicaria japonica

 

흰꽃여뀌는 마디풀과 여뀌속의 여러해살이풀로 땅속줄기는 옆으로 길게 뻗으며 습지 주변에서 군락을 이루며 자란다. 하얀 꽃을 단 이삭꽃차례가 활처럼 휘어지며 늘어지며 꽃잎이 활짝 열려 수술을 드러내는 모습이 아름다운 풀이다. 잎 엽초 상부에 수염털이 나 있다.

 

우리나라 전역에 자라며, 일본, 중국 중부 이남-티뱃, 타이완 등에 분포한다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

● 흰꽃여뀌 Persicaria japonica ↘  목련강 마디풀목 마디풀과 여뀌속 여러해살이풀 

줄기는 높이 60~100㎝이고 곧게 서며, 단단하고, 마디가 길며, 적갈색이다. 근경은 옆으로 길게 뻗으며 밑에서 가지가 갈라진다. 잎은 어긋나기하며 피침형이고 양끝이 좁으며 다소 두껍고 길이 7~12㎝, 폭 1~2㎝로서 가장자리 근처와 뒷면 맥 위에 거센 털이 있으며, 엽병은 짧다. 잎집의 탁엽은 맥이 있으며 막질이고 끝이 거의 수평하며 연모는 길이 8~15㎜로서 딱딱하다.

이삭꽃차례는 원줄기 끝에서 몇 개가 나오고 길이 7~12㎝로서 처지며 꽃은 이가화로서 7~8월에 피고 백색이며 화피는 백색이지만 열매를 둘러싸고 있는 것은 녹백색이다. 수술은 8개이고 포기에 따라 암술이 길고 수술이 짧은 것과 암술이 짧고 수술이 긴 것이 있다. 화피는 길이 3~4㎜로서 5개로 갈라지며 선점(腺點)이 있고 꽃자루는 길이 3~4㎜이며 수술은 8개, 암술대는 2~3개이다. 열매는 수과로서 타원상 달걀 모양이고 세모가 지거나 양쪽이 볼록하며 길이 2~2.5㎜이고 광택이 난다.  <국가생물종지식정보시스템>

 

 

 

 

○ 중국 이름은 蚕茧蓼. 중국에서는 여뀌속을 Persicaria로 쓰지 않으며 마디풀속 학명 Polygonum japonicum으로 기록하고 있다.
