붓꽃 Iris sanguinea

 

붓꽃과 붓꽃속의 기본종으로 여러해살이풀이다. 꽃이 피기 전 꽃봉오리의 모습이 붓을 닮은 데서 붓꽃이란 이름이 유래하였다. 5월 무렵에 줄기 끝에 2-3개의 보라색 꽃을 피운다.

 

전국의 습한 풀밭과 숲 가장자리에 자생한다. 일본, 중국, 몽골, 러시아 동시베리아 등에 분포한다. 중국 이름은 '溪荪'(계손).

● 붓꽃 Iris sanguinea | Blood Iris ↘  여러해살이풀 

높이는 약 60㎝ 정도로 자란다. 줄기는 땅속줄기가 옆으로 자라면서 새싹이 나와 뭉쳐나며 밑부분에 붉은빛을 띤 갈색 섬유가 있다. 근경은 옆으로 뻗고 갈색의 섬유로 덮여 있다. 잎은 곧추 서고 선형으로 길이 30~50㎝, 너비 5~10㎜이며 끝은 뾰족하고 주맥은 뚜렷하지 않으며 밑부분은 엽초 같고 붉은빛이 도는 것도 있다. 꽃은 5~6월에 자색으로 피고 화경 끝에 2~3개씩 달리며 지름 8㎝ 내외이고 꽃자루는 길이 2~4㎝로 작은 포보다는 짧으나 씨방보다 길며 포는 장타원상 피침형으로 길이 5~6㎝이다. 외꽃덮이조각은 넓은 거꿀달걀 모양으로 퍼지고 조부는 황색 바탕에 자색 줄무늬가 있으며 내꽃덮이조각은 타원상 거꿀피침 모양으로 길이 약 4㎝이고 곧추 선다. 암술대의 열편 끝은 이열하고 톱니가 있으며 꽃밥은 암자색이다. 화경은 곧추 서고 높이 30~60㎝이다. 열매는 삭과로 대가 있고 양 끝이 뾰족한 원주형이다. 종자는 갈색이고 삭과 끝이 터지면서 나온다.  <국가생물종지식정보시스템>

 

 

 

 

○ 2020년 Iris ser. Sibiricae 의 분류학적 개정에서 Iris typhifolia 사이에 계통발생학적 분리가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 붓꽃(I. sanguinea)과 I. typhifolia는 I. sibirica와 동의어로 처리되었다.

 

○ 뿌리에는 소화를 돕고 어혈을 풀며 종기를 가라앉히는 효능이 있어 민간에서는 소화불량·복창만(腹脹滿)·질타손상(跌打損傷)·치질·옹종(癰腫)·개선(疥癬) 등의 치료제로 사용한다. (참고 : 한국민족문화대백과사전)
