고려엉겅퀴 Cirsium setidens

 

고려엉겅퀴는 국화과 엉겅퀴속의 한국 특산종 여러해살이풀로, 봄날의 미각을 돋우는 곤드레나물로 더 잘 알려져 있다. 여름부터 가을까지 줄기와 가지 끝에 한 송이씩 피는 자줏빛 꽃이 아름답다.

● 고려엉겅퀴 Cirsium setidens  /  국화목 국화과 엉겅퀴속의 여러해살이풀

높이 약 1m이다. 뿌리가 곧으며 가지가 사방으로 퍼진다. 뿌리에 달린 잎과 밑부분의 잎은 꽃이 필 때 시든다. 줄기에 달린 잎은 타원 모양 바소꼴 또는 달걀 모양으로 밑쪽 잎은 잎자루가 길고 위쪽 잎은 잎자루가 짧다. 잎의 앞면은 녹색에 털이 약간 나며 뒷면은 흰색에 털이 없고 가장자리가 밋밋하거나 가시 같은 톱니가 있다.

7∼10월에 지름 3∼4cm의 붉은 자줏빛 관상화가 원줄기와 가지 끝에 한 송이씩 핀다. 총포는 둥근 종 모양으로 길이 약 2cm이고 털이 빽빽이 난다. 화관은 자줏빛이고 길이 15∼19mm이다. 열매는 수과로 길이 3.5∼4mm의 긴 타원형이며 11월에 익는다. 관모는 갈색이다.

 

 

 

 

 

○ 품종으로 흰 꽃이 피는 흰고려엉겅퀴(for. alba), 변종으로 잎 뒷면이 모시풀처럼 하얀 흰잎고려엉겅퀴(var. niveo-araneum)가 있다.
