제비난초 Platanthera chlorantha

밑부분 잎 1~3장만 크고, 위로 가면서 잎이 갑자기 작아지는데 갈매기란과 흰제비란은 잎은 위로 가면서 서서히 작아지므로 구별된다. '향난초'라고도 부른다.

● 제비난초 Platanthera freynii | Greater platanthera  ↘  미종자목 난초과 제비난초속 여러해살이풀

높이 20-50cm이고 줄기 기부에 큰 잎이 2개 마주나기하여 달린다. 뿌리의 일부분이 방추형으로 커진다. 잎은 길이 8~15cm, 폭 3~5cm로서 타원형이고 끝이 둔하며 기부가 좁아지면서 엽초모양으로 줄기를 감싸고 큰 잎 위에 포가 달려 있다.

꽃은 7-8월에 피고 백색이며 정생하는 이삭꽃차례는 길이 8-16cm이고 많은 꽃이 달리며 포는 피침형으로서 꽃보다 짧다. 꽃받침조각은 중앙부의 것은 달걀모양 또는 난상 타원형이고 길이 5.5-6mm이며 옆의 것은 넓은 피침형이로서 끝이 둔하고 길이 8mm정도이다. 꽃잎은 넓은 피침형이며 육질로서 중앙부의 꽃받침조각보다 다소 짧고 합쳐져서 고깔모양꽃부리로 된다. 입술모양꽃부리는 길이 1~1.3cm이며 넓은 선형이고 끝이 둔하며 거(距)는 길이 2~2.7cm이며 길게 밑으로 처진다. <국립수목원 식물도감>

※ 제비난초의 학명 : 한국산 제비난초의 학명으로 사용되고 있는 Platanthera metabifolia F. Maek.와 P. chlorantha Custer ex Rchb.는 약격(화분괴주머니)의 폭으로 구분할 수 있는데, 한국산 제비난초의 약격은 아래의 폭이 3.5~4mm, 윗부분의 폭이 2~2.5mm로서 P. chlorantha의 특징과 일치하므로 국가생물다양성정보체계에서는 한국산 제비난초의 학명을 P. chlorantha로 채택하고 있다.
