'갯바위대극', 암대극 Euphorbia jolkinii

 

해안 갯바위 지대에 자생하여 '갯바위대극', '바위버들옻'이라 불리기도 한다. 전체가 대형이고 줄기 아래쪽이 목질화되는 점이 특징이다. 중국명은 '대낭독(大狼毒)'이다.

 

전라남도, 제주도 등에 자생하며, 일본, 중국, 타이완 등에 분포한다.

● 암대극 Euphorbia jolkinii | Jolkin’s spurge  ↘  목련강 대극목 대극과 대극속 여러해살이풀 

줄기는 곧게 자라며, 높이 40~80cm, 밑에서 가지가 갈라진다. 잎은 어긋나며, 빽빽하게 달린다. 잎몸은 끝이 둔하고 아래쪽이 점차 좁아지며, 길이 4~7cm, 폭 0.8~1.2cm, 가장자리가 밋밋하다. 줄기 위쪽에 돌려난 잎은 다른 잎보다 넓고 짧다.

꽃이 필 때 모인꽃싸개잎이 노란색을 띠고, 열매가 익을 때 붉은색으로 변한다. 꽃은 5월에 배상꽃차례로 피며, 노란빛이 도는 녹색이다. 열매는 삭과, 둥글며 지름 6mm쯤으로 겉에 돌기가 많다. <국립생물자원관 한반도의생물다양성>
